Perú 2024

Day 1: Fly to Perú!

Welcome to The Land of the Incas. Stay the night in Lima and get excited for the journey ahead.

Day 2: Cusco / Sacred Valley

Take a flight from Lima to Cusco. Stroll through the historic center of the city, visiting important Incan temples like Qorikancha and Quenquo. Explore the neighborhood of San Blas, an area of the city known for its local artisans and cultural importance. Finish the day with a scenic drive through the mountains to Sacred Valley, at one time the heart of of the Incan empire.

Day 3: Sacred Valley / Misminay

In the morning, head to the local market to buy fresh fruits, vegetables and materials for the volunteer project ahead. From there, visit Anccoto, your host school to meet the students and later go to Misminay to be welcomed by your host families.

Day 4: Misminay

Spend the day working together with your peers on a volunteer project to help the Anccoto school.

Day 5: Misminay

Continue the volunteer work at the school and in the afternoon explore the local farming fields, learning about the agriculture and sustainability of the community.

Day 6: Misminay

At the school, spearhead a cultural exchange and understanding session by presenting a lesson that you and your UA classmates have prepared. Later in the day, take in the history and incredible nature of the town through a walking tour.

Day 7: Misminay

Prepare breakfast for the students at the local school and then head to the kindergarten to play fun games with the younger kids of the community. In the afternoon, learn about the traditions and history of the local families.

Day 8: Machu Picchu / Cusco

Head to Machu Picchu, an ancient Indian citadel set atop the Andes mountains, and be amazed by the vastness of one of the seven wonders of the world. Later, travel to Cusco where you will spend your last day in Peru.

Days 9: Cusco / Fly Home

Explore Cusco’s famous San Pedro Market and take in all the vibrant colors and smells of the local produce. Later fly to Lima.

Day 10: Fly Home

Travel back home. Adios Peru!
