Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Lisbon, Portugal!

Day 2: Lisbon

Arrive in Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal nestled on the coast, and be enthralled by the city where ancient history and modernism live in harmony. Climb the famously hilly streets, taking in the panoramic views of city, and later, indulge yourself in a decadent pastel de Belém.

Day 3: Porto

Travel north to Porto and cruise down the Douro River, a perfect backdrop to this ancient city. Stroll through Porto’s narrow cobblestone streets while soaking up its renowned charm and history.

Day 4: “El Camino” / Santiago de Compostela

Head north to Galicia, the region commonly known as the “land of 1,000 rivers”. Experience firsthand the landscape of Spain on the Camino de Santiago, walking in the footsteps of millions of pilgrims and sharing in this 1000-year-old tradition.

Day 5: Finisterre / Santiago de Compostela

Take a day trip to Finisterre, a town built on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, which up until the 15th century was believed to be the end of the world. At night, take a tour guided by a “meiga” (Galician witch) to discover hidden places, legends of the city and ancient cemeteries.

Day 6: Kayaking / Santiago de Compostela

Spend the day kayaking and take in the picturesque scenery of the Galician countryside.

Day 7: León

Travel to León, the food capital of Spain, and visit the spectacular 13th century cathedral that marks the heart of the city. In the evening, eat dinner like a Spaniard by doing a tapa hop around the city.

Day 8: León / Begin Homestay

Head to the local market to purchase ingredients to cook a traditional Spanish meal in a hands-on cooking class. Continue on to Madrid where you will begin your homestay with your familia española.

Day 9-14 Homestay in Madrid

Enjoy the authentic experience of living like a Spanish teenager as your family welcomes you into their home while showing you Madrid and the Spanish way of life.

Day 15: ¡Adios España! Fly back to the U.S.
