Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Madrid, Spain!
Day 2: GRANADA
¡Bienvenidos a España! Meet your Program Director and head to Granada where you will begin your trip with a Welcome Orientation to get you prepared for the adventure ahead. Meet your familia española and spend your first evening getting acquainted with your new familia.
Days 3 – 4: WEEKEND WITH YOUR FAMILIA
Enjoy your first weekend in Spain living like a Spanish teenager as your family welcomes you into their home and shows you Granada and the Spanish way of life.
Day 5: CÓRDOBA
Travel to Córdoba to see the Mezquita (ancient mosque turned cathedral) and stroll through the courtyards of the city. Enjoy lunch at the Mercado Victoria.
Day 6: CLASE DE CULTURA / ALBAICÍN Y SACRAMONTE
Spend your first day of clases together as a group becoming expertas of Spanish culture. Later, explore Sacramonte, home to the gypsy communities for centuries. Continue on through the unique neighborhood of Albaicín, catching views of the immense Alhambra Palace that tops the city.
Day 7: BEACH DAY
Travel to a nearby beach town to enjoy a day relaxing in the sand, dipping your toes into the Mediterranean sea and soaking up the sun.
Days 8: SCHOOL VISIT / PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Go to school for a few hours to meet some Spanish amigos, practice Spanish and see what their school is like. In the afternoon, participate in a photography workshop with your hermana española, capturing photos like the pros.
Day 9: MUSIC CLASS
With your group, soak up the sounds of Spain by participating in a music class.
Days 10 – 11: WEEKEND WITH YOUR FAMILIA
Enjoy the weekend with your familia. Hang out with their friends, meet their extended family and dive even deeper into the authentic way of life in Spain.
Day 12: COOKING CLASS / FLAMENCO WORKSHOP
Head to the local market to do shopping for your cooking class where you will learn how to make traditional Spanish dishes. Later, participate in a Flamenco workshop, learning the traditional steps and music that has become an iconic cornerstone of southern Spanish culture.
Day 13: SEVILLA
Travel to Sevilla and explore its undoubtedly unique charm, wandering through the Plaza de España and taking a stroll along the Guadalquivir. Relive the history and culture of Spain’s fascinating past in a visit to the immense gothic cathedral and the Alcázar, one of the oldest European palaces still in use today.
Day 14: SPAIN TODAY CLASS / SCAVENGER HUNT
With your group, learn together about the current climate in Spain and compare with the life you live back home. In the afternoon, have a fun scavenger hunt with your hermana española where you get to discover the world of urban art that has taken over the streets of Granada.
Day 15: ALHAMBRA / CLASE DE ARTE
Tour the impressive Alhambra Palace built by a Moorish king in the 13th century. Learn about Spanish art.
Days 16 – 17: WEEKEND WITH YOUR FAMILIA
Kick off the last weekend with your host family by doing a fun activity with your hermana española and your group!
Day 18: MADRID
Head back to Madrid and experience the hustle and bustle of Spain‘s capital city. Visit Reina Sofia to see Picasso’s famous “Guernica” and other Spanish masterpieces. End the day in Retiro Park, relishing in your last hours in España.
Day 19: Adios España! Fly back home.
